Who owns Bay Village?

Bay Village is a Florida nonprofit corporation, organized to own and operate a retirement community. The corporation owns the land, buildings and all assets of the community.

A nonprofit corporation does not have stockholders like a for-profit corporation such as AT&T, for example. Instead of stockholders, Bay Village has "members." These are all the members of Pine Shores Presbyterian Church, the founder of Bay Village.

The only function of these members is to elect the directors of Bay Village corporation. The directors serve voluntarily without compensation and direct the business of Bay Village.

How is Bay Village regulated?

Bay Village is regulated by Chapter 651 of the Florida Statutes through the Florida Department of Financial Services as well as the Agency for Healthcare Administration (AHCA).

Is Bay Village accredited?

Bay Village has been fully accredited by the Continuing Care Accreditation Commission since 1987. It is currently the only CCAC-accredited retirement community in Sarasota County.

What levels of care are provided by Bay Village?

Bay Village offers Independent Living, Assisted Living, Nursing Home and Home Health Services.

Are meals included in the Bay Village independent resident monthly fee?

Bay Village has a monthly dining services fee charged to each resident. Bay Village offers breakfast, lunch and/or dinner.

Does Bay Village accept pets?

Bay Village residents are permitted to keep a bird or fish (small tank) in their apartment. Cats and dogs are not permitted.
